This dual action has been shown, along with diet and exercise, to lower overall cholesterol levels in patients effectively.
Crestor (rosuvastatin) can decrease levels of LDLs. Your doctor can help you keep your cholesterol levels between 50 and 100%. Doctors may recommend a lower dose if LDL levels are not healthy enough to keep a low cholesterol level (or if you are overweight or obese). Use of a dose-ranging combination of these two medications will not only help lower your risk of heart disease but could reduce the risk of also developing certain cancers (such as types of breast and ovarian cancer). Lower doses of CRESTOR can also be beneficial for those with high cholesterol (which can be present in other forms of high cholesterol, such as those with low HDL levels). Inactive ingredients (e.g., corn starch, lactose, magnesium stearate, and talc) are included in the medication to increase how long it takes for CRESTOR to take effect and minimise the risk of side effects. A free base, sodium lauryl sulfate ( lauryl salicylate), is included in the medication to enhance how long it takes for CRESTOR to work and help keep cholesterol levels at a low level. The plaintiffs in the case allege the drugmakers engaged in misleading marketing practices and inflated the price of their drugs, falsely marketing their drugs to patients with high cholesterol and other health problems.
“The drugs were designed to treat patients with heart disease,” said Cusumano, who represents AstraZeneca. “We’re taking these claims seriously.”
The plaintiffs claim Crestor caused serious harm to the plaintiffs. They also alleged that the company failed to warn patients and doctors about the risks of the medication.
Cusumano said he was not aware of any studies on the drug and that the lawsuits are for the treatment of patients with high cholesterol. He said the lawsuits have already been filed in federal court.
“The pharmaceutical companies have been trying to make it seem as though the drug makers are telling the public about the risks of their drugs,” Cusumano said. “It’s important to note that the cases are very similar to the lawsuits, and the suits were filed in federal court in New Jersey.”

She said the suits are for the treatment of high cholesterol and increased the risk of heart-related deaths.“The company failed to properly warn doctors and patients about the risks of Crestor,” Sisk said. “They were not aware that the risk of heart disease was increased in adults with heart disease.”
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Delaware. The plaintiffs are seeking to hold the companies accountable.
He said the lawsuits have already been filed in federal court in New Jersey.“We are going to fight the lawsuit,” Cusumano said. “We are going to fight this lawsuit. We will take these allegations seriously.”
The drugmakers agreed to settle the lawsuits. AstraZeneca was not immediately available for comment.
“The FDA has approved Crestor for the treatment of heart disease and has approved the generic Crestor for other uses,” Cusumano said. “We understand that Crestor has been a significant component of the drug industry’s portfolio for decades and are committed to continuing to do so.”
The companies are also in the process of negotiating a settlement with the plaintiffs for a portion of the settlement.
The plaintiffs in the cases have filed motions to consolidate them into a multidistrict class action.
